I was severely attacked by a baby sitter at age 4, but did not know until I was 16. I had since become addicted to shoplifting. I learned of the abuse when I developed panic attacks at 16 that made this top student almost flunk out of a tony prep school because no one understood my condition and the effect of young abuse. I nevertheless went to college but was drinking Listerine by age 20. A shaman cured me of drinking, and I had my first sense that life was not hell.. Everything seemed finally to be getting better (I had been cutting myself since17) and then I developed a face disguring disease that made the queen of the prom become the object of young kids pointing in fascination and disgust.. I accepted all this, until I was 30 and had not dated for years for shame of my looks. I realized I had been horribly unhappy for years. I started drinking again, and then lost a job teaching at a top university because of my drunken lectures. I was homeless on the streets of New York when I had an experience that made me feel that, after 18 years, my whole adult life, that I would be healed. My face healed itself in a way doctors called impossible, and suddenly, the opposite sex called. As did a literary agent. Now I am happier than I have ever been, after being declared a lost cause at age 33 by one doctor. But I endured my problems with dignity, sp I was given no shortage of occult powers I rarely talk about. My message, I guess, is --don't give up, and forgive your enemies because they were your teachers. All the things I wanted (including satisfying sex) either have come or I realized I didn't want them, because this Scorp didn't give up. Stirner basically influenced Nietzche alot, or at least Nietzsche has some similar strong placement. Nietzsche then influenced basically the majority of continental post-enlightenment thought. There is alot of notions of power in the book, and about how things are constructions. I tend to read zodiac descriptions to get a introspective and unparallel look into myself and this was more than I bargained for. I really took home the portions that explained the ego-death, I'm undergoing one right now. I constantly struggle with my tendency to be intense to the point of being too much. I've come to understand that sometimes ignorance is bliss and I'm trying to achieve simplicity in my life. If you ever do another peice on Scorpios I'd be interested in your findings about Scorpios who have undergone some kind of trauma early in life and if it can cause their tendency of intensity to magnify. Reason being I am noticing as I mature that because of my lack of a father growing up I can be overbearingly demanding, posessive and intense with a partner because its almost like I want to haze him to see if he's up for the challenge. The problem is 'he' almost never is...and honestlty I can see why...its a hearty challenge. This was brilliant.
